This feature allows you to control how / when scores are displayed on your leaderboard.  

By default, as soon as the athlete submits their score, the score is immediately posted to the leaderboard, however if you want to establish the element of surprise, you can control when scores are posted to the leaderboard and/or give the athlete control to hide/show their scores.  

Once the deadline of that workout has passed, the leaderboard will automatically release those scores that were initially hidden.
