Custom Scoring Table

Define your own point values by placement at the global, division, or workout level — using a simple CSV upload or industry-standard preloaded tables.

Competition Corner supports three built-in scoring methods out of the box:

  • Point per Place — lowest score wins (1st place = 1 point, 2nd = 2 points, etc.)

  • Table Based — each placement has an assigned point value (e.g. 1st = 100 points). See the Default Scoring Table for reference.

  • Cumulative — athletes are ranked by the sum of their raw scores across all workouts, ideal when all events share the same unit (time, reps, or weight).

If none of these fit your competition, you can define your own custom point system. Custom scoring can be applied at three levels, each overriding the one above it: Global → Division → Workout.

Choosing Your Point Table

When setting up custom scoring, you have two options for defining your point values:

  • Industry-standard preloaded tables — Competition Corner includes ready-to-use tables based on common division sizes, with options for both odd and even competitor splits. Select the table that best matches your expected division size and you're ready to go.

  • Build your own — Upload a custom CSV file with point values tailored exactly to your competition format. This gives you full control over the spread.

Enabling Custom Scoring

Before uploading a custom point system at any level, you need to enable it globally:

  1. Go to Scoring Setup

  2. Select By Point scoring

  3. Enable the Use Custom Scoring option

Preparing Your CSV File

If you're building your own table, create a spreadsheet with exactly two columns:

  • Column 1: Rank

  • Column 2: Points

Column names must use proper casing exactly as shown above. Save the file in CSV format before uploading.

Global Point System

Global scoring applies to all divisions and workouts unless overridden at a lower level. Once custom scoring is enabled, click Upload Custom Scoring in Scoring Setup. After a successful upload, a View Point Breakdown option will appear so you can verify your values.

Division Level Point System

Division-level scoring takes priority over global scoring. This is useful when different divisions have different numbers of competitors — a common scenario for most events. Upload the CSV within the specific division's settings using the same file format.

Example Leaderboard — a competition using a specific 40-competitor point system for 8 of their 9 events.

Workout Level Point System

Workout-level scoring takes priority over both global and division scoring. Use this when you cut athletes between workouts and need to adjust the point spread for a reduced field. Upload the CSV within the specific workout's settings using the same file format.

Example Leaderboard — a competition using a 10-competitor point system for a final workout after cutting from 40 to 10 competitors.
