When you register for an event on Competition Corner, you may be offered a Ticket Protection option at checkout. Refund protection is provided by Teak. This covers you if you need to withdraw from the competition due to an unexpected qualifying event — such as illness, injury, or a work-related issue preventing you from attending.
Why It's Only Available at Registration
Ticket Protection must be purchased at the time of registration and cannot be added afterward. This is standard practice, not a platform limitation. Allowing someone to purchase protection after they already know they may need to withdraw is not permitted.
In short: if you think you might need it, the time to add it is at checkout.
What's Refundable
Ticket Protection can refund your registration cost when an unexpected, qualifying event prevents you from attending. The program is designed to cover genuine obstacles — not changes of plan — and approval is always contingent on providing supporting documentation that the provider can verify.
Covered reasons generally fall into the following categories:
Medical. Serious illness or injury (including a positive COVID test confirmed by a medical facility) affecting you, a companion, or an immediate family member, where a physician advises against attending. Pregnancy complications and the death of a family member or companion shortly before the event are also covered.
Travel disruptions. A traffic accident or mechanical breakdown within 48 hours of the event, or a delay caused by a commercial travel carrier, that prevents you from reaching the venue.
Severe weather. Weather conditions or an official weather emergency that make it impossible to reach the event, where the event itself has not been canceled by the venue.
Work-related. Involuntary job loss after at least 12 continuous months with the same employer, an employer-required relocation of 100+ miles, or a change in active military leave status.
Home and legal. Your home being made uninhabitable by fire, flood, burglary, vandalism, or a natural disaster; or a jury summons or court order requiring your appearance on the event date.
A few things to keep in mind:
Documentation is required for every claim. Eligibility is determined by the provider after they review the supporting documents you submit (medical notes, accident reports, employer letters, court orders, etc.). Coverage of the categories above is not automatic — each claim is reviewed on its own merits.
Foreseeable situations are not covered. If a condition or conflict was already known at the time you purchased your registration, it cannot be the basis for a refund.
Event cancellations or rescheduling by the organizer are not covered. Ticket Protection is designed to protect the athlete, not against event-level decisions.
Simply choosing not to attend is not covered. Ticket Protection does not cover changes of plan, scheduling conflicts, or other discretionary reasons for missing the event.

Already Registered Without Ticket Protection?
If you've already registered and missed the option at checkout, post-purchase coverage may still be available in some cases — but time is critical. Please contact us immediately at support@competitioncorner.net or use the chat option on this page and we'll check with Teak on your behalf. This needs to happen within minutes of registering, as eligibility cannot be guaranteed once time has passed.
